Teething Pains!

Big news - we're getting a tooth! Joshua (Josh is out of town, so I can call my baby by his sweet name, not Bear!) cut his first tooth this week. It's one of his top middle teeth, not the bottom front two that typically come in first. It looks sooo painful - it is actually coming in through the front of his gums, not the bottom/gumline area. He's been so happy during the day, but at night, his mouth has been giving him fits. I know it must hurt so bad - and we've got many more teeth to come!

So, I have a new found appreciation for single moms and those whose husbands travel a lot. I've been playing the role of the single mom this week, since Josh and Lily headed out early to the beach. It's definitely been challenging. For starters, with the teething pain, Joshua isn't sleeping - which means mommy doesn't get to sleep either.

On Monday morning, I was such a zombie after a sleepless night. Sweet Aunt Jessica has volunteered to keep Joshua this week, so I woke up, got ready for work, and had him at Jessica's house at 6am. Sounds okay, right. Well, as I get ready to give her the daily instructions, we realize I have forgotten his diapers, his bottles, and his milk. I rush 20 minutes back home, get the items I have forgotten, drive 20 minutes back to Jessica's, and finally I'm on my way to work! Whew - I never thought mornings could be so stressful.

Today has been a bit better - but its been non-stop between caring for the dog, preparing dinner for church friends who just had a baby, fixing our own dinner, bath time, and putting the baby to bed! Friday and vacation for us can't come soon enough!

He finally sleeps - let's hope Baby Motrin gets us some sleep tonight!

Pool Party

On Saturday, we took Lily and Bear swimming for the first time this summer. Our busy schedules have kept us from the pool thus far, so this was a great treat! Katie and Saunders invited us as well as another family, the Adamses over for a pool party. Katie Anne, Emma, and Lily are all very close in age, so we love getting them together! We are so blessed to have great friends to spend time with!!
Bear loved the pool - he smiled and splashed the entire time. He tried out all the floats in the pool but this was by far our favorite! Here he is floating around like such a big boy. I definitely need to take him to the pool more often - he was so happy in the water! Lily was a bit more timid...we tried her new arm floaties instead of a baby float, and I think they made her a bit nervous. She would much rather Josh or I hold her while in the water. We did try to get her to start kicking her arms and legs and she did like being tossed back and forth between us. Josh did toss her underwater, and after that, she was ready to leave! Poor baby!!
Here are some more fun pictures from our day at the pool: Katie Anne is such a cutie!

Happy Father's Day

Top 5 Reasons Josh is a great Daddy:

5. He knows how to make Bear laugh out loud just by looking at him.

4. He lets Lily win the nightly battle over what to watch on TV (Dora vs. CNBC).

3. He manages to get both kids ready and to the babysitter every morning all by himself.

2. He somehow gets Lily to listen to him when she's disobedient to everyone else.

1. He loves Lily, Bear, and I unconditionally.
Happy Father's Day!

Take Me Out To the Ballgame

We took Lily and Bear to a Rome Braves game last night. One of Josh's clients had tickets and invited us to be his guests. We had tons of fun. We avoided the rain for the most part, and because it is a smaller crowd, we were able to let Lily run around a bit, which she loved. We've been to the Rome games before, but this was the first time we were able to sit and enjoy the game. Bear seemed to really enjoy watching what was happening on the field....and Lily loved dancing to the music and eating Dippin' Dots ice cream!

Welcome

Welcome to our new blog site. I've decided to finally join the digital age and use this site to update you on happenings and photos of our family. I'm new to this, so any ideas and comments are greatly appreciated!

Joshua had his 6 month check-up today - he's such a big boy! He weighed 19 lb, 9 0z, and was 28 inches long. He's close to the 90th percentile for his age. I guess he's well on his way to being the SEC school linebacker his daddy has always dreamed of. He took his shots like a champ, only whimpering for a few minutes. My baby is growing up way too fast!!
