Just Precious...

Kids certainly do say the darndest things....and I wanted to jot down a few stories that Lily has come up with lately that I want to remember!

On Sunday morning, Lily and I left early for church. We ran through McDonald's so that I could grab a cup of coffee. After I made it through the drive-through and had my coffee, Lily said "Mommy, that coffee sounds soooooo good. When I get big and am a Mommy and it's a church day and I'm a mommy, I'm going to get coffee too, okay? And I'll really like it to, just like you."

We recently registered Bear for preschool for next year at Lily's school. We drove past the church where her preschool is located while running errands and Lily said to Bear "There's my school Bubba. You can go to school there next year but you have to learn to use the potty first. You better hurry up and learn because you can't wear diapers to school."

Tonight, Lily said two blessings before dinner. She and Bear said their "God our Father" blessing together and then Lily said she needed to say a different blessing. She closed her eyes and put her little hands together and said "Dear God, Thank you for this day. Thank you for Jesus. Please help Bear to feel better so he won't cough and sneeze germs on everybody at my birthday party. Amen." The funny thing is that Bear's not sick - he's not been coughing or sneezing, but I guess she's a bit worried about him ruining her special day!

Fun in the Snow

It's looking like a winter wonderland in GA this weekend! We rarely get snow in Cartersville - I can think of one time in the 5 1/2 years we've lived here where we've had any accumulation beyond a slight dusting. We are all thrilled with the 2+ inches of snow we got on Friday afternoon and evening.
The snow was still coming down pretty heavy when Josh picked the kids up yesterday after work. Lily told him as they were driving home through the park "Daddy, we can hardly see with all the snow. I guess you won't be playing basketball tonight". Josh took them out for a bit Friday night while I was on my way home from work, but said we didn't have the gear they needed for it to be fun and they didn't last long.
After breakfast this morning we bundled up in layers for another attempt at playtime in the snow. I think this morning went over better and we played outside for about 30 minutes. I convinced Lily to make a snow angel and we attempted to sled and build a snowman, but the snow was a bit too powdery.
After we'd had enough of the cold, we came inside. Josh ventured out to work for a bit and the kids and I had soup and snowcream for lunch! I know if we got snow frequently, we wouldn't think it was all that fun to deal with. But for us, it is a blast and I don't think I'd mind if it stuck around for another day or so!

Happy Birthday Mason!

I'm late in updating my blog - it's been such a busy week! Last Saturday, we headed up to Flowery Branch to celebrate Mason's 2nd birthday! Mason is the son of my college roomie, Diana, and he and Bear are very close in age. We had a great time at Mason's Mickey Mouse party. Diana did a great job with the party - you'd never know she's due in just a few weeks with a sweet baby girl!! We had a great time as always and here are a few pictures from Mason's party:

Another project

I finished my second sewing project last weekend. I made Lily a pair of ruffle pants and a pillowcase type top to match. The ruffle pants pattern was pretty easy to work with, but I need to figure out a way to gather for the ruffles a bit better - it was the most difficult part for me. A friend warned me that once I started sewing, it would become addictive. She was right - I'm already ready to try something new - maybe I'll work on something for Bear next!

The best part about baking...
