For a week now, the local weather forecast has called for a "significant" snow storm to hit the North Georgia area on Sunday night/Monday morning. Now it doesn't snow often in Georgia - and we've already had a night of bad ice and the first Christmas Day snowfall in a century, so I was a bit skeptical that we would actually see another accumulating snowfall this season. On Saturday though, reports were looking more and more convincing though, so we did trek out to the grocery store to stock up on a few items just in case. By Sunday night, it was obvious the snow was coming and Lily and Bear couldn't have been more excited.
We had a picnic dinner while we watched the news/weather reports regarding school closings! Yeah for us - school is cancelled!
The kids had snowflake and snowman chicken nuggets to go along with the snow theme!
After dinner, it was a late night free-for-all. Lily and Bear made a jumping obstacle course around the living room and played until they couldn't play anymore!
We tucked them into bed and while they were dreaming...
this started happening!
The snow was beautiful - and I don't think I've ever seen it fall so fast. The flakes were big and were really blowing in the wind! I went to bed a bit before Josh, but he actually saw and heard snow thunder later in the evening!
I got up early to check the snowfall/weather reports, as I typically commute into Atlanta before daylight. Not on Monday morning - we had close to 5 inches of snow, and with the wind, we had some snow drifts of 8 inches on our back deck. I spent the snow day instead loving on these 2 precious little ones:
We made snowmen out of donuts for a breakfast treat and got set to enjoy the first of a few snow days!
