Happy Halloween!

We had such a fun - though wet - Halloween today! Lily dressed up again in her kitty cat costume and Bear was the cutest fireman his momma had ever seen! We started out by going trick or treating at Mammy and Paw's house.

The community turnout was great - I think we were able to attract more folks than normal due to the rainy weather that was threatening to rain out traditional trick or treating. Lily and Bear were a little overwhelmed by the crowds of people at first, but a little candy helped them come out of their shells. We walked around trick or treating at different classroom doors, played some games, and helped give out candy at our Sunday School class' table. Bear, you were adorable walking around saying "trick or treat" to everyone you passed. Lily, you had more fun helping Mrs. Alison and Mrs. Shawna pass out candy to our little visitors than collecting candy for yourself.

Josh and I took turns taking Lily and Bear around. Bear, your favorite part of trick or treating was ringing the doorbell at our neighbor's homes. Our mayor lives down the street and Bear must have rang his doorbell 5 or 6 times in a row. When he answered he said to Bear, "Aren't you a patient little one!" Lily, you loved the homes who let you pick out your own candy. You don't like chocolate, and on several occasions would give Snickers or Reeses Cups back to those who gave them to you. Needless to say, Daddy was a bit disappointed in the candy selection in your bag. When we got cold and tired of walking around the neighborhood, we headed home to finish giving out the candy we had to the trick or treaters. Lily, you've decided this is your new favorite thing to do. You would watch out the window and would get so excited when you saw kids approaching. You had the door open, candy in hand before they even could ring the doorbell. You were so sad when it got late and the trick or treating was finished. I think you'll be disappointed when you wake up tomorrow and realize Halloween is over until next year!

Halloween Party

Today, Lily had her first Preschool party to celebrate Halloween. The kids wore their costumes to school today and had so much fun seeing what each other had decided to be! Lily was so excited to get to wear her kitty outfit today. After the school parade, she and her friends got to enjoy some fun treats at snack time and decorate pumpkins.

Pumpkin Patch

This afternoon, we went to the Pumpkin Patch Farm in Adairsville with the Jones and Adams families. The weather was great - sunny and warmer than Saturday. We must have waited a bit too late in October for the true "pumpkin patch" feel - most of the pumpkins were already gone. Though that was a bit disappointing, we did have a fun time riding on a hay ride, riding John Deere tricycles, wandering through a hay maze, and petting various animals on the farm. We saw some interesting sights too - a 4 year old wearing a Hooter's t-shirt, some scary bearded farm men, and a turkey with what seemed to be a wig on. All in all in was a fun time with great friends! And since there were no big pumpkins to purchase - we walked away with 2 baby pumpkins that Lily and Bear picked out.

Both Lily and Bear fell asleep on the way home - since we had gone to church, lunch, and then the pumpkin farm, he missed his afternoon nap. He never knew we even got him out of the car and slept on the couch until dinner tonight!

Fall Festival Fun

On Saturday afternoon, Lily, Bear and I spent some time at the fall festival at the CCC. The festival was planned right during the Alabama game - so we knew better than to ask Daddy to tag along. The festival was tons of fun and the kids had a blast.

There were several bouncy slides set up for the kids to enjoy. Lily proved to be quite the daredevil. After she bored of sliding down the slide the normal, feet first way she started going head first and spinning around half way down. Bear was more cautious, but thanks to an older friend, Riley Abernathy, he got brave and ventured up to slide with her. After bouncing for a while, we rode a train around a portion of the golf course. Bear loved the train - it was by far his favorite event of the day. He'd yell "Choo Choo" as we rode around the track.

While on the train, Lily spotted the bungee area where there was a trampoline and climbing wall set up. I convinced her that she wasn't quite big enough for the rock wall, but she patiently waited at least 20 minutes for her turn to jump on the bungee trampoline. She had so much fun - and waited again before we left to try it again.
We enjoyed a quick dinner of fun fair foods like corn dogs, chicken fingers, and soft pretzels and went back out to play a bit more. We made Sand Art, did Spin Art, and won 2 goldfish. We couldn't have asked for a more fun fall day!
